Band and live recording
Drums, bass, guitars and keys play together in our live room while vocals can run in the booth — one engineer handles routing, headphone mixes and capturing your set safely.

A band sounds different when everyone plays at once compared with stacking overdubs. Band and live recording at Morigliolink is built for that: roughly 36 m² of playing space, sight lines to the control room and a separate 7 m² booth for lead vocals without stopping the rest of the band.
We host indie bands, jazz combos, funk groups and rock acts tracking a demo, EP or album. Up to 6 musicians at a time; larger line-ups are discussed upfront via contact. Read prepare for a band session for checklists and scheduling tips.
Process
- 01
Plan
Send setlist, tempos and a rough song order. We reserve mics and headphone sends and reply within 1 business day with hourly, day or overtime options.
- 02
Load-in
Drums on the riser, amps on mats, DIs where needed. Allow time for soundcheck — it sits inside your booked block, not as a hidden extra.
- 03
Takes
Live passes with or without click, plus punch-ins on drums or guitars when that is faster than restarting everyone.
- 04
Stem handover
At day or session end, multitrack WAVs per instrument plus a rough mix for home listening. Archive kept 12 months.
Live room layout
The live room is about 36 m² — enough for a typical rock or indie setup with kit, bass amp, two guitars and keys. We separate louder sources with gobos and placement, not by putting everyone in isolated boxes. Groove stays intact while bleed stays manageable.
The window to the control room lets you talk through takes with the engineer — important when someone wants another solo pass without restarting the whole band.
Vocal booth and parallel capture
Lead vocals can run at the same time in the 7 m² booth, with a cue mix on the 8 headphone sends available. Backing vocals can be added later in the same booth or, if you prefer, live in the room on dedicated mics.
Instrumentals only today and vocals next week? Book vocal recording; we align file naming and tempos between sessions.
Headphone mixes and monitoring
Each player gets an individual mix. Too much drum in the cans throws off bass players; too little click makes guitarists anxious. We set levels per person and adjust between takes.
- Individual volume and pan per musician
- Optional click in the mix — decide before the session
- Talkback from the control room so everyone hears direction without removing headphones
Bringing your own in-ears? Tell us; we carry adapters for common systems.
Routing and tracks
With 16 inputs we can mic a full kit (overheads, kick, snare, toms) plus bass (DI + amp), guitars and keyboards at once. Every track is labelled clearly (e.g. GTR_L_57, OH_L) so mixing downstream stays smooth.
Rough mixes during breaks help judge whether a take is usable before moving to the next song — not a substitute for a real mix, but a sanity check.
Preparing for the studio day
Band days cost more than solo sessions; preparation pays off. Agree who plays what, tune songs beforehand and bring spare strings, sticks and cables. Our guide prepare for a band session covers setlist order, tempos and what to demo at home.
Load-in at Overtoom 682: bike racks at the door; car parking is limited — see The studio is on Overtoom in Oud-West. Tram 1 (Overtoom stop) and tram 7 (Marnixplein stop) are a short walk away. From Amsterdam Zuid station, allow about 15 minutes on tram 1 towards Centraal. Bike racks are in front of the entrance; car parking is limited — use Q-Park Byzantium (Overtoom) or on-street spaces outside blue-zone hours.. Rolling cases are fine; mention a large tour bus so we can coordinate street loading.

FAQ
How many songs fit in one day?
It depends on complexity and how tight you play live. Many bands track three to five songs in eight hours including soundcheck; ambitious plans we discuss in the brief.
Can we use our own amps?
Yes if they are technically safe. We also have bass and guitar amps on site; state your preference via contact.
What is the maximum number of players?
6 musicians at once in the room. Larger ensembles split across sessions or get a custom mic plan.
Can we add vocals later?
Yes — vocal recording in the booth using the tempos and keys we capture today.
How does overtime work?
After the booked block we charge €195 per extra hour incl. VAT, only after verbal confirmation with your contact person.
